XLGAMES has finally put a date on ArcheAge Chronicles. The upcoming open-world action MMORPG will enter Steam Early Access on November 3 at 3:00 PM PST, with pre-orders available now for $29.99. Players who purchase the game ahead of launch will also receive an exclusive costume set. The announcement comes immediately after a successful showing at October’s Steam Next Fest, where ArcheAge Chronicles finished fifth on Steam’s Most Played Demos list. That’s an encouraging start for a game looking to revive one of the more ambitious MMORPG franchises of the last decade.
Set in Auroria 50 years after the events of the original ArcheAge, Chronicles takes a different approach to combat. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game emphasizes fast-paced, combo-driven action, with weapon-specific abilities, parries, and animation cancels playing central roles. Early feedback from the Steam Next Fest demo reportedly praised the visuals and combat mechanics, while PvP also received positive attention.
Of course, ArcheAge veterans will be interested in more than flashy combat. The original game earned its reputation through its sandbox systems, including crafting, trading, housing, and player-driven activities. XLGAMES says these features remain part of Chronicles, alongside a more cinematic story campaign.
The $29.99 Early Access package uses a buy-to-play model without a monthly subscription. Players who pre-order will receive the Dawn Pioneer Set, an exclusive costume available for one class of their choosing. The outfit can be claimed when Early Access begins.
XLGAMES is also emphasizing community involvement throughout development. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham says the studio intends to incorporate player feedback through regular updates, with improvements continuing beyond Early Access.
The real test will be whether ArcheAge Chronicles can combine its updated action combat with the sandbox freedom that made the original game memorable. A strong demo showing is promising, but MMORPGs aren’t judged by their opening weekend. They’re judged by whether players still want to log in months, or years, later.
ArcheAge Chronicles launches November 3 on PC through Steam.
