The biggest ARC Raiders update thus far, Frozen Trail, is fast approaching, and with it comes some major changes to the way Raiders earn rewards.
Embark Studios has just launched live update 1.45.0, which reveals the Cred currency will officially be retired when Frozen Trail goes live on September 8th—giving Raiders just one month to empty their wallets.
Cred Currency Replaced With 'More Expansive Reward System'
Big things are happening topside, and the ARC Raiders community has been patiently waiting for more content to sink their teeth into. In May 2026, Embark Studios announced a major change to the way they introduce new content to the game, opting for two major updates per year, rather than smaller, less-impactful updates every month.
The Frozen Trail update will be the first example of these major updates, and while some Raiders have undoubtedly become frustrated with the lack of new content over the last six months, Frozen Trail definitely has the depth to have retired Raiders returning to give the game another chance.
Here are the main new additions coming to ARC Raiders in the upcoming Frozen Trail update:
- New Map - Largest map in the game with a layered design, located beyond the mountains.
- New Arc - Embark states this is the most ambitious ARC operation thus far, with unique behaviors and designs.
- Additional Progression Systems: Customizable Raider Outpost
- Improved Skill Trees: More options for Raider playstyles
- Complimentary content: New weapons, gadgets, instruments, and cosmetics.
- Raider Cred Expires: Will be replaced with a more expansive reward system
Before we get the opportunity to explore the brand-new map and come face-to-face with terrifying new mechanized threats, Embark has just launched live update 1.45.0 to set the stage for Frozen Trail.
ARC Raiders live update 1.45.0 introduces: a new raider project, cosmetic set, expedition 5, new rubber ducks designed by the community, and changes to raider cred.

Embark has stated Cred currency will officially be retired when Frozen Trail launches on October 8th, to make way for a brand-new reward system, so be sure to use all of your existing cred before October 8th, "We are retiring Cred as a currency, as we’ll be introducing a more expansive reward system launching with the Frozen Trail Update. All existing Raider Deck rewards will also be available in the new system. You will keep any rewards you have already claimed at the time of the update."
ARC Raiders Frozen Trail Update Will Be One to Remember
With over 800 hours logged in ARC Raiders, it's safe to say I love this game—even through all the issues the game has endured along the way.
From winning best multiplayer game of the year and enjoying a honeymoon period where hundreds of thousands of Raiders couldn't get enough of the cut-throat extraction shooter gameplay, to experiencing a divide between PvP and PvE players, or the cheaters and item duplicators that wreaked havoc on player experience and economy-ARC Raiders is still an amazing game at the base of it all.
The player count has significantly dropped as a result of these issues, but for someone who has never stopped playing, I believe the Frozen Trail update has the depth needed to bring Raiders back in mass.
When it comes to the new map, this could potentially be the best one yet, and Embark has stated, "Building the new map has challenged our level design team in exciting new ways. We’ve focused on creating an ambitious environment with greater verticality, exploration, and opportunities for discovery. You’ll encounter threats above and below ground, and navigate environments that no Raiders have seen before."
As for the new ARC approaching topside, leaks suggest the gigantic ARC operation Embark has been teasing could potentially be similar in size to the entire Stella Montis map, and Raiders may be able to explore and fight inside the ARC itself. "These new ARC enemies range from a small and nifty problem-maker to an enormous machine that will halt you in your tracks."
